In the absolute best way possible, Velour‘s AW10 collections picks up exactly where they left off. Wearable and colourful basics are Velour’s calling card and they continue to deliver doing exactly what they do best.
Credit should also be given to any label that can combine the fashion faux-pas of ‘checks and stipes’ in the one garment with such great success.
In the 1950s, artist Sven “X:et” Erixon, a painter known for his bold and lively hues, was asked during a radio interview to reveal his favorite color. “Red,” he replied. “Why red?” responded the host. “Well, blue then,” he countered.
Fast forward to 1998 when Erixon’s grandson, Roland Hjort, joined up with Lena Patriksson and Jonas Clason to launch Whyred, a label with both familial and conceptual ties to the world of art.
This season, they’ve drawn inspiration from the distorted realities created by acclaimed director Chris Cunningham to create a range of looks that balance technology and simplicity. It’s clean cut, sleek and will surely carry you through this season and the next.
Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair’s AW10 collection teeters on the verge between two cultures; the British and the Japanese. It travels in time holding the heritage of traditional British utility together with the futuristic, technical feel of Japanese youth culture.
Picture a young Japanese guy interpreting the stereotype look of a traditional British male, or how a young British woman would appear dressing up in a Japanese manner, and you should get the gist.
A selection of the latest collection for boys and girls is now in store.
We’ve been back in the motherland for the past few weeks enjoying the rainy Swedish summer and checking out next season’s collections.
Here is a little snap from the Gallery Fashion Fair in Copenhagen to make those manning the fort back home just a little jealous.
The weather may be dismal but the collections have made it all worthwhile. Every time we visit these fairs we leave with a renewed sense of inspiration sparked by the incredible array of talent on display. Expect to see a few new labels popping up in the store in the months to come.
Won Hundred’s ‘Dressing in Memories’ collection is a modern take on key looks from decades past.
Harking back to the good ol’ days of the seventies, this collection emphasises the connection between fashion and history. The seasonally appropriate colour palette ranges from muted blues and greys to vibrant reds and yellows. As always, there is a clear focus on texture and fabric to create light and wearable pieces for the warmer months ahead.
A selection of tops, jackets and dresses are now available in store.
Who’s going to keep you well heeled this winter? The Horse…of course.
We’ve just received two new styles from these talented young boot makers. There’s Hermine – the button-cute buckle-up leather number, and Ivy – a slightly more sophisticated lace-up available in leather and suede. Both are specifically designed for crunching those last few remaining autumn leaves and keeping your lower extremities high and dry in these sodden months.
Cheap Monday continue to embrace the grunge with their apocalyptic AW10 collection.
This is the first full collection to be released under the helm of the new creative director Ann-Sofie Back and her influence is apparent in the tough and textured pieces.
We’ve just received the first drop with more to follow in coming weeks.
Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg may only be 17 and 19, but they are already making their mark on the musical world.
As First Aid Kit, the pair has recently released their debut album The Big Black And The Blue.
Audiences at some of the worlds biggest festivals have been falling at their feet, and in a few weeks time, it will be Australia’s turn to be enchanted by their lofty melodies and warm vocal harmonies.
Australian fans can hear the songs from these releases – including the acclaimed cover of Fleet Foxes Tiger Mountain Peasant Song, which has now notched up over one million views on YouTube – when the pair tour in September.
Well, after a few months of hard labour – it’s finally here.

It’s available in store for the entirely reasonable price of free and you’ll soon see a few copies floating around our favourite local haunts.
Design credits go to James Kape and you can hit us up with any feedback here.
TMOD’sLong Lost Secrets range of jewellery explores the great historical mystery of Atlantis through forms representing the relics of this lost city, hidden deep below the sea.
Like their previous collections, this range balances aesthetics with interaction and experience and each piece comes packaged in a canvas pouch with 2 wax seals and custom TMOD matches.
In a world inundated with facts and figures, the SS10 collection by Designers Remix Collection is a foray into fantasy. As always, the look is delicate, enigmatic and fiercely feminine. Textures are reinvented with new fabrics and feels, construction enters the next dimension with original geometric formations and everything is designed to be equally as interesting from any angle.
A selection of jackets, tops and dresses are now in store for your viewing pleasure.
Fresh from Denmark, here is a selection of boots and bags from Royal Republiq now gracing our shop floor. These babies are cut from the highest quality leather and sure to see you through this winter and the next.

The term ‘salad days’ is most often used as an idiomatic expression, referring to a youthful time is one’s life accompanied by the inexperience, idealism and indiscretion often associated with youth – you know, because it’s raw and flavoursome, like a good salad.
But as far as Dr Denim is concerned, your salad days extend well beyond the bounds of youth. And just to prove their point, they’ve made a short film documenting this well known medical fact.
To celebrate the launch of Dr Denim produced short film Salad Days: A MATTER OF LIFE AND DENIM they’ll be throwing a little (large) shindig this Sunday evening – and you’re invited.
Word on the street is that the doctors themselves may be making a whirlwind visit so keep your eyes peeled for a few carefully clad Swedes.
The facts:
What: Dr Denim Salad Days Launch Party
Where: The Passage, 231 Victoria St, Darlinghurst
When: Sunday June 6, 6pm onwards

An Ode to No One’s AW10 collection is not exactly your traditional take on winter dressing. Yet, the collection successfully merges sculptural detail with soft draping to create an array of winter wardrobe staples. Standout numbers include the elegant array of draped dresses and the cropped tuxedo jacket with layers of lapels. An Ode to No One may be a relatively young label but their garments seem to have already formed their own unique sense of maturity and style.
Taking inspiration from the Beatles record of the same name, Secret Squirrel’s Autumn Winter 2010 collection – The White Album – is an eclectic range with their signature vintage influences.
The designs include dark overdyed floral prints, luxe sixties sequinned fabrics, crisp chambray and sharp abbey road style tailoring. The range also incorporates a soft nostalgic femininity, with demure pleated knee length skirts and schoolgirl style collared pinafores that button up to the neck.
Somedays Gallery is still on the hunt for artists, designers and curators to fill a couple of spots left in our exciting 2010 program!
We are very open and would love to hear from you and all about your work. We welcome solo or group shows in all 2D mediums and look for works that are creative, dynamic and cutting edge.
Drop in or email the gallery manager, Sandra Di Palma, gallery@somedays.com.au with your ideas.
Our friends over at TwoThousand are a resourceful bunch. Armed with their astute cultural radar and discerning eyes they continuously scour the city to ensure we are kept well-informed about all the goings on around town. From time to time, they also engage in a variety of other ventures like the Sydney Film Festival Blog and The Thousands Shop, a curated retail experience showcasing objects an apparel from Australia and beyond.
The Thousands Shop is a permanent fixture in Melbourne and will this week travel to Sydney under the guise of The Thousands Touring Shop. Seeing as it’s Fashion Week and all, there will be a range of fashion focused products on offer as well as a selection of books and magazines that acknowledge the important relationship between fashion and publishing.
Here are the facts:
The Thousands Touring Shop
May 5 – 15, 2010
Opening hours: Wednesday-Saturday 12pm-6pm
Upstairs – The Commons – Local Eating House
32 Burton Street, Darlinghurst, Sydney
On the off chance that you aren’t already a TwoThousand subscriber, we highly recommend you do so by clicking here.
The second injection from Sperry Top-Sider has just landed in store with some new editions of their famed boat shoe.
There’s a new red and blue colourway in leather and some sweet little canvas numbers in navy and olive. As always, quality and comfort is a priority along with the simple but classic details that Sperry are know for.
Gone are the days when men can go about their daily business relying solely on what they can stuff into their pockets. The modern gent (myself included) can barely leave the house without his laptop, diary, notebook, cardigan and some appropriate reading material (I recommend this new magazine called sometimes but more on that later).
Thankfully, we have just received a second drop from Velour, which includes their lovely take on a classic postman’s bag. There’s plenty of room for all you day to day necessities and it’s finished in a delicious cognac leather that is sure to only improve with age.
Established on the style values of the 1960s mods, Whyred is a combination of clean lines, neat shapes and quirky details. Influenced by the music and art scenes of this era, the design has an intellectual appreciation for these genres of inspiration.
Whyred creates classic, wearable designs with a modern twist and embodies a grown up, no-fuss approach to dressing where collection pieces quickly become wardrobe staples.
A selection of items from the men’s and women’s SS10 collection are now available in store.
I could go into some lofty explanation about strong aesthetics, subtle yet distinct colour palettes and well executed design, but in all honesty – I think these images from Gram’s latest collection speak for themselves.
If shoes maketh the man, then Gram maketh a very handsome man indeed.
Earlier in the year, we made our annual pilgrimage back to the homeland to check out the upcoming collections from a whole range of new and existing labels. The whirlwind journey included a little sidetrip to Copenhagen to visit Gallery and Terminal-2, two exhibitions showcasing the cream of the Scandinavian crop. Every time we visit these fairs we leave with a renewed sense of inspiration sparked by the incredible array of talent on display. We are pleased to annouce that as a result of this trip you can expect to see a few more labels littering the shop floor in weeks to come including a basics range from Forest and Bob, Minimarket’s diffusion line Mini for Many and some handsome footwear from Royal Replublic. Here are a few snaps from the trip.
Our Legacy is one of the new additions we previewed earlier this year. Having heard so much about the brand through the international grapevine, we were eager to get our hands on the finished product. Thankfully, the grapevine did not disappoint.
The use of high quality British and Italian fabrics gives each of the garments a heritage feel, kind of like something your grandpa used to wear – in a good way.
It’s would be a blatant understatement to suggest that the somedays lads have a mild infatuation with Velour. Perhaps it’s the sharp tailoring, subtle yet distinct colour palette or maybe the fact that it just feels so damn good. Who knows? What we do know is that this season’s collection has once again surpassed our expectations. As always, it’s all about the details and Velour seem to nail it time and time again, offering a considered alternative to mainstream fashion through their reinterpretation of everyday garments like chunky knits, chinos, checked shirts and parkas
Here is a little preview of what is set to be another successful collaboration between Melissa and Dame Vivienne Westwood. This season we’ve got bows, hearts, buttons and even wings in all manner of shapes and sizes. Take special note of the adorable gumboots, which will certainly keep you high and dry when splashing about in puddles this winter.
The first delivery is expected towards the end of next week so watch this space.
Cheap Monday’s grunge-infested SS10 collection is the latest addition to the Somedays shop floor. Never one to follow the pack, Cheap Monday has strayed from the clean and dandy path that so many other labels seem to be treading at the moment.
This is the first collection to be released under the helm of Cheap Monday’s new creative director Ann-Sofie Back and her influence is apparent in the ripped, textured and tough pieces. Perhaps this is a little teaser of the direction she will eventually take for the brand.
Worn by middle-aged dads and hipsters alike, the boat shoe has been making some serious ground of late to bridge the generational style gap. First introduced in 1935, Sperry Top-Sider became the blueprint that so may others have followed. A perfect fusion of form and function, these puppies are hand sewn, water resistant and oh so dapper (especially when paired with a pair of cuffed chinos). The first colourway to arrive is navy and white with more to follow in a few weeks time.
Danish label Won Hundred is the first of our new Scandinavian additions to arrive for the season. Having spent many an hour drooling over the look book, you can only imagine the excitement when the delivery turned up on our doorstep. As perverse as it may be, our excitement was not misplaced. This stuff looks and feels amazing.
Taking a slight departure from previous winters, it looks as if we are going to have a little colour thrown into the mix this year. Nikolaj Nielsen, the creative behind the aesthetic direction of Won Hundred knows exactly how to brighten up the autumn/winter seasons with beautiful pastels and traditional mens pieces like knit cardigans and checked shirts.
The first instalment of the Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair SS 2010 collection has just landed in store.
True to their heritage but always surprising, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair is all about the details. Once again, the label’s trademark mix of tailored cuts and subtle decontruction characterise the collection. It’s understated and elegant with a strong emphasis on draping and overdyed fabrics.
Unfortunately for us gents, the first drop is all for the ladies. But be sure to watch this space because the remainder should be hitting our shores any day now.
There are few things that spark out sense of curiosity more than new labels. So it is with great delight that we introduce Handsom to the Somedays stable.
Created by British couple Sam Rush and Henry Allum, the debut collection merges traditional English sartorialism with contemporary silhouettes. Stand out pieces from the collection include the corduroy shorts and tailored shirts for the boys, and the pleated pinafores and leather waistcoats for the girls.
It’s preppy, sophisticated and just a little bit suave.
We all love a happy ending. Get your mind out of the gutter, I’m referring to a happy ending to the year gone by.
To make the end of this year just that little merrier we’re going to sell a whole lot of sweet clobber real cheap. The sale will kick off at 10am on Sunday the 27th of December and run until 5pm on Thursday the 31st of December. There will be a bunch of samples and other goodies from your favourite Somedays labels.
The vintage-inspired MOSCOT Originals collection is a nod to the classic looks of decades past.
MOSCOT Eyewear has been a New York City institution for nearly 100 years. The MOSCOT optical roots were first planted by great grandfather and patriarch, Hyman Moscot, who arrived from Eastern Europe via Ellis Island in 1899 and began selling ready-made eyeglasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street on Manhattan’s famed Lower East Side. In 1915, having establishing himself in the neighbourhood as the “go-to” guy for glasses, Hyman opened what would become MOSCOT’s first retail space at 94 Rivington Street.
The newly-made frames are based on styles from the MOSCOT archives from the 1930′s, 40′s, 50′s, 60′s and 70′s, retaining all of the authenticity of the original frame style right down to real glass lenses, traditional hardware, and lens colours that precisely duplicate the true colours first fabricated by the company in the 1940′s.
These babies have been worn by the likes of Marlin Brando and Johnny Depp and we are proud to announce that Somedays is the first Australian stockist.
Resterods is somewhat of a Swedish icon and the latest collection sees a continuation of the sharp tailoring for which the label is known.
The AW 09 collection is a blend of the American working class hero and the French bohemian activist of the late sixties (and classic Swedish style of course). The collection encourages the wearer to walk the walk, talk the talk, engage and participate.
The collection presents a rugged look with heavier textures and soft washed surfaces for that nice walked in vintage feel. The signature pieces are the padded biker jackets in treated black and brown leather. Ok so we know it’s not exactly jacket weather right now but these are the pieces you want to snap up and stash away for the colder months.
Summer attire has not been neglected, there are classic slim-cut striped tees for the boys and zip-up dresses for the girls as well as a whole host of other goodies.
As Sydneysiders, we are only too aware of the frustrations associated with trying to find dapper footwear amidst the sea of double pluggers and pointy leather numbers.
Welcome The Horse.
Disillusioned with their former vocations, Scott Hawkes & Gabrielle Glennie founded a friendship upon an ethical & organic vision of highest quality Italian leather for the fashioned gentleman, the discerning lady & the recalcitrant young.
Developing themselves as committed farriers, Gabrielle & Scott began shoeing the public with prescription leather applied topically to the foot. Based upon the idea of ‘each feet personality’, The Horse wears & grooves in smiles & tears as your feet live, birthing individual character.
As the summer rapidly descends upon us our attentions begin to shift to all things summery – beaches, beers and bronzed bodies. However, for us Swedes (and adopted Swedes) the festive season brings forth a certain nostalgia for a decidedly different set of associations – snow, saunas and sub-zero temperatures. So this year, in celebration of Somedays 4th Birthday, we thought we would continue the Scandinavian flavour as we host ‘The Somedays White Party’.
WHITE – the achromatic symbol of purity, cleanliness and innocence – all the things we are not. For one night only, the Somedays store will be transformed into a winter wonderland as we toast to another year gone by. So please don your most pallid attire (yeah, that means to put on something white….) and join us on the 2nd of December for an evening of untainted revelry.
The party will kick off in the store from 6pm till 8pm in conjunction with our chums at Pedestrian and Oyster Magazine. VB Raw and The Fringe Bar have been kind enough to ensure that everyone remains suitably lubricated throughout the evening and just to keep things amicable, the party will continue from 8pm hosted by F.R.I.E.N.D/S at The Fringe Bar (transport will be provided between venues).
To kick start the festive spirit we have decided to start the gift giving a little early this year. In association with the lovely folk at Pedestrian we will be giving away one pair of Dr Denim jeans each day leading up to the party. All you have to do is sign up to Pedestrian’s Daily Mailout or if you’re already a subscriber then sign up your buddies. Free denim is the swedest denim.
Melissa transform spheres of plastic into objects of desire. The latest delivery includes collaborations with Lovefox, Isabela Capeto and ever-popular Anglomania series by Vivienne Westwood.
We’ve all been holding out for a little sunshine and the latest offering from Sydney label Secret Squirrel is exactly that. A heavenly mix of pattern and texture, the vintage inspired collection features playful ruffle tops, sequin slip dresses and high-waisted chambray shorts. Just looking at it is making me feel summery.
It’s that time of the month again at Somedays Gallery…where booze, art and a great crowd come together. Heesco, a talented illustrator and painter presents his new show, Soul’s End. These dark and mysterious images tell stories and ignite the imagination. This is one show not to miss. See you on Wednesday folks. Visit the gallery page for the catalogue essay and more images of the talented Heesco’s work.
Soul’s End – An exhibition by Heesco
Opening Night: Wednesday 14th October, 2009 6-9pm
Until 10th November 2009
“There is no other world. Nor even this one. What, then, is there? The inner smile provoked in us by the patent nonexistence of both.” - E. M. Cioran, Drawn and Quartered
Where to find that super energy efficient light bulb, Gunnar bookshelf or lukewarm apple crumble for only $2? Ingvar Kamprad (aka IKEA) knows his shit and invited us over for some shopping and coffee. Somewhere needed some basic ingredients and off we went to the Swedish giant.Hours later and exhausted we reached the check-outs. Mandatory fights over colour choices were all ticked off as well as getting lost in its endless maze. We stuffed the car to the point of bursting and off we rolled with the quarry back to our nest on Little Collins St. More work was ahead of us. This was just the beginning, but at least we had a chance to drink $1 re-fill coffee and eat some Bulle (Swedish cinnaman rolls) and feel a little like home.
The caravan finally and safely reached the long-awaited destination. Sydney’s farewell sun had suddenly transformed into a Melbourne welcome rain and at first we didn’t feel as welcomed at all. The lack of sunshine and the presence of heavy rains made everything black and white, no grey, and it felt like being in a British crime telly movie.
But there she was. The space was just as beautiful as we remembered. This time a blank space, empty and at the same time scary. M and I were supposed to fill this beauty with equally beautiful things and the potential was just too obvious. No time to loose we thought and attacked armed with paint brushes, hammers, ladders, saws and a few cases of lager. Terrified Melbournites saw a thick haze of dust coming through the second floor windows and now they knew, the Somewhere missionaries were here and this time it was for real. With a tough and strict schedule directing us we began the renovations. Out with the old in with the new we said, covered in paint cheering a lager.
So finally the time had come. The countdown had long ago reached zero and the audience were about to leave when M suddenly appeared with the most magnificent trailer Sydney had ever seen. Bright red as it was it sparkled in the hot Sydney sun. It was ready to take us on a journey to a distant far away land where Swedish fashion had to be taught and planted. Like missionaries, with a call from above, we set off to spread the beauty.
Behind us tear-wettedhandkerchiefs waved in the air as we were eaten by the horizon. We were gone.
M looking more like Jesus than Jesus himself showed us the right way (on the right hand side of the road of course). Our convoy floated smoothly through prefab wool valleys and noisy truck driver parks until our eyes got red and sore from tiredness. Even though the road was remarkably even and straight it would be too dangerous to sleep through these passages and to rely on our TomTom to shout out loud and wake us up when the road was about to bend. Yes, this was out of the question so we decided to find Somewhere to sleep.
We reached a sleepy Albury at around midnight and the goose bumps on our arms indicated that Sydney’s warming lap was miles away and Sweden felt terrifying close for a second. Albury Allawa Motor Inn’s heater could be turned up to 29 degrees and we went full throttle. Exhausted as he was, M fell asleep in the middle of a sentence and I stayed awake with too much caffeine in my veins and too many impressions to digest. We were really doing it. We were going to Melbourne. To be continued
Sydney’s glowing hot and world known wonder Kid, Adi, once again gives us a new crisp and poetic collection bursting with vivacity and colour for fashion-savvy chicks who want to stick out this summer. Newly arrived, fresh and unpacked minutes ago Ode To No One is ready to make you shine along with the hot Sydney sun.
Dr Denim’s quirkyness has guided Sydney’s street fashion towards a more relaxed and laid back style. Once again Grandpa’s old knitted cardi makes a major appearence along with the rolled up khaki chinos and worn out loafers. The Gothenburgers show us that good fashion doesn’t have to be overly expensive and we are proud to give you the brand new collection that will help you win chess games and toy army battles.
We have also received a great selection of new chino colours, ties, shorts, cardys and more that will make you shine in the spring sun.
Also Dr. D has to our great joy introduced a few new men’s jeans for the upcoming season. So we welcome Ormond and Raymond’s slim cuts in everything from raw to light vintage denim.
Have you ever thought about a bird getting stuck in your throat? Or about Prince Charming and Prince Eric running away to live happily ever after? Or are you worried that Lepricorns really exist? Well this is the exhibition for you! A wonderfully unique and quirky range of illustrations will be on display at somedays gallery from next Wednesday. Our new show ‘St. Collective’ show cases the extensive talents of three emerging illustrators. As always we will be having a giant fabulous opening night party to celebrate. Come along for a beverage or three with a good dose of art to top it all off. St Collective featuring Mark Bärwald, Alex Lehours and Harrison “El Herlo” Earl opens Wednesday 19th August 6pm. You’d be crazy to miss it.
Australian creative four-piece designer collective Sosume give us a stylish, over comfy collection made of the finest organic and natural products. The design is inspired by visual arts and architecture with a minimal and simplistic outcome. The collection gives you women’s summer basics like tanks, loose tees, harem pants and dresses and the softness of the fabrics give you a feeling of not wearing anything at all.
Finally the long waiting is over. The sun has once again hit Sydney’s beaches and the heaters are to be thrown in the cupboard for their long summer sleep. Our first summer arrival is nothing less than Cheap Monday. This worldwide known brand offers affordable high-end fashion straight from Sweden where it’s still summer.
Somedays own child star Jade has been seen pretty frequently on Sydney’s renowned stages and this night Spectrum had the honour of him strumming his famous bass lines and flicking his well known fringe. Adelaide’s finest left for Sydney last year and they are only seconds away from their biggest break ever. Check them out on http://www.formerchildstars.com.au/
Somedays is proud to present a brand new exhibition by photographer Demola this Wednesday at Somedays Gallery.
This exhibition is a collection of simple portraits by British photographer Demola. He prefers shooting in natural light and letting nature dictate the direction of each shoot. The subjects range from models, through to your average Joe or not so average Joe. He’s inspired by beauty in all it’s permutations weather classic or totally abstract. Opening – 6pm Wed 29th July
Somedays’ top crew M and K went back to midsummer Sweden to dig after more hidden treasures. After hundreds of showings and meetings they handpicked a few of Scandinavia’s finest collections and brought them back to Sydney. M himself said that next season will be a real killer and probably the most interesting season he’s ever seen. Since the fabulous upcoming season is a secret still, we can only show you a few fashion shots but also a yummy Swedish mid summer clip to ease your impatience.
Below you find images from Stockholm Fashion Week hosted by Berns salonger.
Somedays helps you keep your feet warm during the freezing winter by offering you an incredible shoe line up from Stockholm’s finest shoe brand – Gram. Shoe designer duo Alexis and Anna give you the most stylish and innovative sneakers of now.
Julian Red has often been spoken of as the brand for fashionable outsiders. Inspired by the disillusioned protagonist ’Julian Red’ in Brett Easton Ellis’ book Less Than Zero denim scientist/prodigy Mattias Lind brings us his own collection of progressive fashion where art, music and literature are all essential elements. In the deep forests of Sweden Mattias experimented with patterns and fabrics to create the most amazing jeans we have ever seen. Just ask us and we’ll proudly introduce you to the Rolls Royce of jeans – Julian Red.
Sydney/Melbourne dudes Jonny Goldcoast and Dan Preston keep spoiling Australia with their retro-futuristic prints on their awesome fitted tees. The collection is influenced by Japanese architecture, blended with 70s science fiction, 60s psychedelica and 80s sci-fi television shows. Their collection You Have Your Own Life Now doesn’t only give us extraordinary tees but also slim fitted, detailed jackets to keep you hot and in tune with the latest fashion-wise.
We are proud to introduce a piece of Swedish industrial history to Sydney – step up Resteröds. The knitting machines in the Resteröds Trikåfabrik (fabric factory) are more than 70 years old and still in use. The low knitting tempo of these machines creates a higher quality fabric with a texture reminiscent of the old days. I remember watching my grandpa chopping wood during my summer holidays in Sweden. He would wear a sun bleached white basic singlet from Resteröds. A classic for all time.
Sydney is on the brink of winter but we are embracing it with open arms. There is no better way to combat the chilly winter winds and rain than with a warm well tailored coat, checked scarf, leather boots and a hat by Somedays’ newest arrival Coal. Based out of Portland (US), Coal combines supurb fabrics with cutting edge designs and craftmanship that is second to none. Come in and check out our new range of Coal hats and enhance your look this winter and keep that sexy hair out of the rain.
Back in Sweden recently we found that slim cut chinos in different colours with rolled up legs and leather boots were the thing to wear. We liked theidea of a comfy relaxed outfit and decided to bring the ”grandpa” look back to Sydney, so just pop in and check out our collection of Dr Denim chinos. We’re also stocking the Rokin boots as seen in the photos.
As the only stockists in Australia we are proud to present the Tiger of Sweden autumn/winter collection, inspired by early Bob Dylan and the 1980’s London Blitz Club scene. Intelligent yet playful, sharp yet relaxed with slim looks, subtle detailing and adventurous styles are distinctive features of this classic fashion brand.
Fortune’s Fool’s AW 09 collection ”Elegantly Wasted” shows us why the Sydney boys Shay Carthew and Lior Abrahami have got their reputation as one of Sydney’s most exciting fashion designers. We are amazed by their edgy and incredibly stylish garments. Draped tops, sleek cut bottoms and flowing layers with strong lines and clean cuts that work perfectly with our fuzzy Swedish taste of what good fashion is all about.
What is that banging noise? Why is M running up and down the stairs carrying heavy antiques? What is D doing still there at 10.30 pm and why are people so excited about Wednesday night? I can’t disclose all of somedays’ secrets, but I can tell you that we is undergoing an amazing and transforming make over! As part of Sydney’s fashion week we are throwing a very special opening night party for our new look, our new website and our monthly exhibition – Maria Lizunova’s “Convergence”. With Maria’s abstract paintings on our white walls and the music of DJ Thommy, we will be having a fine old time. Afterwards we’ll all head down to the Cricketers’ arms for more…
Our passion for Swedish fashion aside, we can’t deny that Denmark has once again proved their ability to create new, edgy and exciting fashion. The somedays crew left Copenhagen fashion fair a few months ago where several remarkable shows were seen, but one particular show made us go wild – the Designer Remix collection. Back in Sydney we could not wait to get the new collection in and we certainly weren’t disappointed when it finally arrived.
How could they design something so complicated yet make it look really simple. This is without no question one of our favourites at the moment. Welcome Fifth Avenue Shoerepair.
Not bad at all. Dr Denim Jeansmakers just won “the best denim label” of the year through Sportswear International Magazine. Amongst previous winners you find all the biggest heavey weight denim labels. Former Swedish winners are Acne and Nudie. Dr Denim is one of the most afforadable jeans in the market right now. But they never compromise on the quality or the fit. It is everyones favourite pair of jeans for girls and guys.
They really mean what their slogo says, “A MATTER OF LIFE AND DENIM”.
Gram Winter collection makes no exception. Alexis and Anna keep on giving us new styles of shoes season after season. New for this winter is the 385g, 401g & 438g.
Velour is another great label making a strong impression based around classic design ethos and adding their own personal touch. The Swedish based label have really added to the scene with a mix of vibrant, refreshing items and more played down and basic cuts. This release which is part of their spring/summer line features some really impressive outerwear with the Julian and Maximillian jackets along with some very interesting shirting and more impressive tees.
It’s time for the Copenhagen fashion week again. From 5 – 8 February, roughly 500 Scandinavian labels show what is going to walk the streets our Spring 2009. Part of the somedays crew…sorry Gusty, Jade and Tess….had to travel to this hot&cold experience.
We met up with the labels we represent and manage to see a couple of fashion showoffs… Below you see images from Designers Remix collection and Cheap Mondays shows.
Our first real live blogg is being entered. Let us first introduce our in-house stylists and authors, Inga & Kerstin. They are going to give you all the possible updates and influences of what the Scandinavian’s are up to. See somedays as your window to the Swedish and Danish fashion. I&K have been with us since day one. The good thing with them is that they never leave work. They are living their dream. To look good and make other people follow their trends. From day to day. Every day.
It was meant to happen a year back. But we have finally made it. We are happy relaunch our new webpage with is going to be full of weekly updates. Pressure is on.
